• YO-YO OSCILLATOR : CHILLI PEANUTS. (Imagined Recordings 1971 – 1979)

It’s 1987. Prince Paul relocates to Staten Island and shares an apartment with the RZA. Paul’s just begun to work with a young trio out of Amityville, Long Island. RZA’s still five years off the birth of Wu Tang. One weekday morning they make the regular trip to Rock & Soul in Manhattan in search of nuggets, digging in the crates, looking for an edge. It’s the end of a long day, they’ve rinsed the place. They reconvene, comparing what each got, what the other missed. They notice one last rack that slipped the net. They flip through it together; it’s all standard, nothing to see. They speed up as they near the end, wanting to go. Tired eyes, sore hands, they’re done. As they reach the back there’s a cover that speaks to them both. It’s a name they’ve never heard before – Yo-Yo Oscillator, ‘Chilli Peanuts’. There’s a feeling off this one, they both want it. They agree to share it. The rest is history….

This never happened. Or in an alternate Universe, in an age of alternative facts, maybe it did.
